Why we love this walk?

This short, pram accessible walk is perfect for walkers of all abilities.

We love this walk for those warmer days when Ullswater Lake can get busy. This walk runs alongside the River Eamont and provides plenty of opportunities to dip your toes in the river.

The Route:

Starting at Dunmallard Pay & Display car park take the pram accessible path, heading away from Pooley Bridge. There is a signpost next to the car park, picture 1, here you take the path to Soulby. Shortly after this signpost you will see a fork in the road, continue straight here (picture 2).

The path is mainly wide and well surfaced. There are a few sections that can get boggy and please be careful for the tree roots when walking under the trees. For this reason we would recommend an off road pushchair for ease.

The route itself is easy to follow, the path runs alongside the River Eamont and you are able to follow this path for as long as you would like until reaching the road. On this occasion we stopped after 0.5 miles and retraced our steps.

There is plenty for children to enjoy on this short walk: a splash of their toes in the River Eamont, an explore in the trees and a run up a huge grassy mound that my children pretend is a Wainwright (picture 5)!

This walk can be linked to many others close to Pooley Bridge, you could walk from Dunmallard Car Park to Gale Bay for a slightly longer walk. Please click here to be directed to our Gale Bay walk.
