Lake Ullswater

As a family we have explored this walk in all kinds of weather – wind, rain and even snow but one of my favourite trips was this summer, just as Lockdown was lifting, and the sun was shining.

There is so much for the children to explore by the lake, they love to paddle, climb the trees and skim stones. It is a fantastic walk for all ages and abilities as it is only short, approximately 2 miles in total, and there are plenty of places for refreshments/toilets/a little sit down!

There are facilities in Pooley Bridge and there is also a lovely little cafe at Waterside House Campsite – this is where we end our walk and turn back to Pooley Bridge but you could extend this walk much further and continue following Lake Ullswater to Howtown and beyond ?

For us, as a family, we enjoy coming here for a short wander but more importantly for a paddle and a play. There is a pay & display car park in Pooley Bridge, a short walk away from the shoreline of the Lake. There is also a lovely little play park at Waterside House Campsite that offer beautiful views while your children play.

A lovely little walk, with beautiful views!
