Why we love this walk?
This walk is a lovely walk for all ages and abilities. We love the wide paths, well away from any roads, so your children can run free. This walk is relatively flat and pram friendly- another reason to love this walk. We also love that it can include a trip to Dalemain Mansion and Gardens or you can stop for lunch at the excellent Horse and Farrier pub. A great walk, or full day out if you would like.
Please do take care, correct walking footwear is essential.

The Route
Lay-by parking in the Penrith village of Dacre is a great starting point for this walk.
Leaving the lay-by you cross the cattlegrid and enter the wide, public footpath. Here Dacre Castle will be on your right hand side. No map is needed you just keep following this path until you reach Dalemain. Here you turn around and retrace your steps.
