Healthy Families Cumbria Pledge

Phase One

The Hiking Household have developed a series of 6 delightful nature trail maps to help parents and their children to enjoy our local green spaces across Cumbria. The maps, aimed at pre-school aged children and their parents, have been produced in partnership with The Cumbria County Council Early Years Team as part of their Healthy Families Pledge, with funding from The Covid Restart and Recovery Fund.

Each nature trail is easy to access, with regular bus routes available. They are all pram accessible and are short in length – perfect for little legs.

The maps are free to download and are packed with prompts and games to help spark the imagination, start curious conversations and engage children with their surroundings – all while having fun!

The maps have been carefully designed to help improve language skills as well as other key learning points for pre-school children such as counting and learning their shapes and colours.

Phase Two

The Hiking Household are excited to announce the launch of a further 6 nature trail maps to help parents and their children to enjoy local green spaces across Cumbria. The maps, aimed at pre-school age children and their parents, have been produced in partnership with Cumberland Council and Westmorland & Furness Council as part of their Healthy Families Pledge, with funding from Public Health Teams. Many of the new maps have also been developed alongside local nursery settings, providing a key insight into what our young children need from our resources.

The maps are free to download and are packed with prompts and games to help spark the imagination, start curious conversations and engage children with their surroundings – all while having fun!

We hope you and your children love them as much as we do!
