Why we love this walk?
This circular walk is an ideal walk for those with children who are ready for a fell walk but you want to test their walking before committing to a Wainwright walk. It is also a perfect walk if you are short of time, or if the weather is not on your side – the trees shelter much of the wind and rain.
Please do take care, correct walking footwear is essential.

The Route.
The Dunmallard Hill Circular Walk is a quick and easy adventure near Pooley Bridge that takes you through the forest for some partial views of Ullswater. It is a popular route for families and beginner walkers in the Lake District due to its easy to navigate trails and peaceful woodland setting. The trail sets out from the village of Pooley Bridge. From here, you loop around the lower slopes of the hill, you then climb up the hillside to reach the summit. After a quick rest at the top, you descend the hillside once again on the return of the village.
This walk is perfect for a quick and fun weekend excursion. We team this walk with the flat Dunmallard Walk, it offers a great place for a picnic and the rope swing is a brilliant bargaining tool to get down the hill again!
