Watchtree Nature Reserve is a well loved family friendly walk. Most people who live locally to Carlisle will know all about Watchtree and five years later it is still a firm favourite for all of my children! It is a pedestrianised circular loop with a free car park and pram accessible. This is a wonderful place to go if you are wanting to learn how to ride a bike, or gain some confidence on any sort of wheels. We see all sorts out there – bikes, scooters, rollerblades!

It is incredibly family friendly and the workers are always so happy and helpful – you are able to hire bikes, repair your bikes, learn to ride your bike (little wheelers group) and buy used bikes! One of my favourite things about Watchtree is how accessible it is to all – they also have a number of bikes that wheelchair users are able to access.

* at present they have some restrictions due to Covid, they currently have a pop up shop open and pre bookable options for bike hire, please see their website for up to date information: www.watchtree.co.uk *
