This is a lovely, short walk from Caldbeck village centre to the Howk, a limestone gorge with waterfalls and the picturesque ruins of the old bobbin mill. This route is 0.6 miles and is pram friendly.

If you wanted to explore further, like my children did, then you would need a baby carrier as beyond The Howk there are several steep steps up to the waterfall. If you are able to manage it then it is well worth the scramble. This was a 1 mile loop.

You are able to park for free at Caldbeck village car park. Follow the path at the back of the car park and go uphill for approximately 30 metres. Turn left on the road and directly in front of you there is a public footpath sign. Follow this path all the way to The Howk. Return the same way.

Once we had completed our walk we ventured to Midtown Milkhouse where we picked up some lovely pasteurised whole milk – this was probably the highlight of the walk for my children!! They had a lot of fun collecting the milk πŸ₯›
