For anyone who is local to Carlisle Talkin Tarn is a classic family walk. It is an incredibly easy, fully accessible, circular 1.3 mile walk around the tarn. There is a pay and display car park, toilets, cafe and a children’s play park. Talkin Tarn is approximately ten miles East of the City of Carlisle.

My children love an adventure and you are able to make this walk a little more challenging, and fun, by diverting off the accessible path and into the woods. There are plenty of tracks to explore, although most are not possible with the pram, so I often take the baby carrier with me just in case!

We have spent hours here playing on the park, feeding the ducks, being chased by the geese and fishing my son out of the Tarn! A brilliant way to spend a morning or afternoon as a family, and most importantly there are no cars – I am always looking for the safest possible walks for me and my four children, it is hard to keep eyes on all of them at the same time so a traffic free, easy and fun walk is always a great find!
