River Ehen:

Please note Laura and her four children have not walked this walk, photos and words from @whereronniewalked:
River Ehen is a nice low level walk, not too muddy, and a perfect place for keeping children entertained. There are numerous opportunities for paddling and throwing stones in the river, so our 3.3mile walk actually took us 1hr 50, including all the stops.
The River Ehen can be found in West Cumbria, flowing out of Ennerdale Water towards Egremont.

The route:

We set off and walked through the castle, heading down around the side of the castle, towards the allotments, and followed the route along the river. We completed a there and back route, but there are plenty of options for circular routes.

The route we were going to take was blocked by a lot of cows, hence turning round and coming back the same way ?

If starting at the castle the nearest postcode is: CA22 2JW. There is free parking on the street outside and for those without a car there is a bus every half hour to Whitehaven.
