Peggy’s Wood

This two mile walk began at Middle Gelt Bridge, nearest postcode is CA8 9JJ. There is roadside parking under the bridge. The walking routes from here are endless – you could follow the River Gelt north and this would lead you to Gelt Wood, a previously reviewed walk. However, today we decided to follow the River Gelt down to Greenwell.

There is a public footpath to follow and the walk is fantastic for all ages! Due to the stiles it would not be pram friendly however, our two year old managed to walk the route very well.

The route through Peggy’s Wood is not too long and there are plenty of things to see: trees to climb, swings to explore and stones to throw into the water!

This will be an excellent walk in the summer for picnics and paddling! It has been a breath of fresh air exploring the local public footpaths and I would highly recommend you hunt out some near to you!
