Wainwright 5/214 for my little ones.

Latrigg is Keswick’s own fell and if you ever get the chance to visit Keswick, post lockdown, this Wainwright really is a must! The views from the summit looking down over Keswick town, Derwentwater and surrounding fells are stunning! The best thing about this wainwright – it is a super easy one to do with little legs!

Many people do extend this walk much further, or perhaps start at the very bottom in Keswick. However, if like me you have little ones who get tired easy, then there is a very small, free car park for easy access directly to Latrigg.

The postcode CA12 4PH should get you to Under Scar Spa and if you keep going to the very end of this small road you will reach the car park. Be warned it does get busy as it also offers a great gateway to Skiddaw and surrounding fells.

From the car park this is a very easy up and down circular route round the summit. It is approximately 1.5 miles and very easy for little legs. It isn’t steep or difficult terrain and the views are truly breathtaking. There is a bench very close to the summit for you to enjoy a snack while taking in the view ⛰

When the weather is better, and lockdown is lifted, I cannot wait to do the slightly longer 3 mile walk from Fitz Park, combining a trip to the park and time in Keswick to this walk.
