Kirkoswald:

This fantastic 1.5 mile out and back route begins in the small village of Kirkoswald, Penrith. Off road parking is available in the village but please do be mindful not to block any driveways.

We love this walk for the public footpath that runs adjacent to Raven Beck. The children love to throw sticks into the beck and follow the path alongside the water. For more details please head to the bottom of this page and view our Strava map.

The Route:

The traffic free footpath makes this route a perfect choice for those who have little legs in the family. It is a safe, easy and enjoyable public footpath offering a fantastic walk alongside Raven Beck in the quiet village of Kirkoswald. Please be aware this path is not pram accessible and can get extremely slippery in the wet weather.

The route itself is easy to find; starting from the village of Kirkoswald follow the public footpath alongside Raven Beck for as far as you would like. We began our walk close to Kirkoswald Doctors Surgery, nearest postcode CA10 1DQ. Having reached the large open field we decided to retrace our steps and head back to the village. At this point it was beginning to rain quite heavily with the trees offering a perfect shelter – this is a great route for those families who also enjoy a wet weather walk.

Having completed your walk, and returned to the village of Kirkoswald, you are able to enjoy a hot drink and food from one of the local pubs in the village, or explore the village community shop.

Overall this is a lovely countryside walk for the whole family to enjoy.
