This delightful walk follows the River Gelt through Gelt Wood Nature Reserve. The woods are located just one mile from Talkin Tarn, another wonderful local walk that I have previously reviewed.

We park at the car park at Low Gelt Bridge, it is a free car park but does often get busy. From here follow the path south along the River Gelt.

You can walk as far through Gelt Wood as your little legs take you, we find the children often prefer to climb trees and explore while on this walk. However, you could walk the 3 miles to Castle Carrock and turn back. We have never managed this as of yet due to the excitement of the woods!

I have previously reviewed Hayton Wood and the two walks are able to meet however, we are yet to do this. This walk is not pram accessible, we take the baby carrier. It is ideal in wet, stormy weather as the trees offer great protection.

Another wonderful local walk.
