Why we love this green space?
Egremont Castle is located in Egremont, postcode: CA22 2JW. The castle grounds are easy to access for all – it is walking distance from the town centre and there are also many bus routes close by. The park can be accessed from Bookwell Road.
We love this space for the incredible history and stunning castle ruins. Children could spend hours here using their imagination and exploring all of the different, exciting routes on offer.

The Route:
There are many routes that you are able to walk whilst visiting Egremont Castle. On this occasion we parked on Bookwell Road and walked the very short distance to the castle.
Route 1: this 0.4 mile walk is pram accessible and a lovely walk for those with little legs. The route walks the perimeter of the castle grounds and takes in the beautiful surroundings.
Route 2: A 0.3 mile walk of the castle ruins, please note this route is not pram accessible. There are a few steps to navigate throughout this walk, do take extra care when walking to the top of the castle hill. The castle offers a fantastic opportunity for little ones to use their imagination, explore some local history and learn a few interesting facts along the way!
Route 3: This route takes you from the castle to the River Ehen following the riverside footpath as you go. This is a permissive path and the footpath should be followed at all times, please take extra care when walking close to the river. You are able to explore this footpath for as long as your little legs will take you. This path is not pram accessible.
