What a brilliant day!!! I honestly cannot recommend this place enough! Rookery Woods could have been designed with my children in mind. You don’t always need to go on long hikes to enjoy the outdoors, just being outside in the fresh air playing is enough to keep myself and my children happy.

Before heading to Rookery Woods we checked out Castlerigg Stone Circle. This is a 30 minute walk from Keswick, alternatively there is limited parking at the site. Postcode: CA12 4RN. This is one of the earliest stone circles to be found in Britain and the backdrop of Hellvellyn and High Seat make the panoramic views mesmerising!

Having explored the stone circle for a little while we then walked to Keswick Climbing Wall, there is plenty of free parking here. Postcode: CA12 4RN.

We had never been before and what a find it was!!! There are SO many activities on offer here – climbing, kayaking, canoeing, ghyll scrambling and of course Rookery Woods!! We cannot wait to keep coming back as the children get older and try out more activities!!

Rookery Woods is an adventure play area designed for the younger adventurer and is ideal for anyone aged 8 and under. There are SO many activities for the children to get involved with: climbing, zip wire, archery, orienteering and much more.

Such a fantastic day out and we cannot wait to return very soon!
