Brockhole:

Brockhole on Windermere is a not-for-profit attraction found in Windermere, Cumbria. Every penny spent goes straight back into protecting The Lake District National Park – this is something The Hiking Household LOVES! There is pay & display parking available on site, postcode LA23 1LJ. This family friendly day out is absolutely fantastic, with so much to explore your whole family will never be short of things to enjoy.

You are able to explore their listed gardens, treat yourself to local produce in the shop or book onto the many family activities and cultural events! Don’t forget to enjoy their on-site eateries – the Brockhole BBQ for a hotdog followed by a visit to the Garden Shed Café for ice cream being a firm favourite for my little ones! Please do check what’s on offer at Brockhole before visiting, you can be directed to their website here.

My children were mesmerised with the amount of activities they could enjoy here: Krazy Karts, mini golf, archery and Brave the Cave being just a few. Let’s not forget the Treetop Trek activities, the families zip lining above us when we first arrived was enough to send my children wild with excitement! If you have children of differing ages this outdoor haven is definitely one for you to enjoy; younger children will adore the adventure playground while your older children have an abundance of activities on offer.

On this occasion we had been kindly invited by Treetop Trek Lake District to enjoy their Treetop Nets activity, however my children are already planning a return trip to enjoy the many other activities on site! Having finished our two hour trip on the Treetop Nets we enjoyed the onsite adventure playground followed by a beautiful lakeshore walk. Here we enjoyed a paddle by the shoreline and enjoyed a picnic from The Garden Shed Cafe while watching the Windermere Lake Cruises pass by!

This really was an incredible family day out and with so much still to explore I have no doubt we will be back sooner rather than later. Our next idea is to hire a motor boat from Brockhole and enjoy a family day out on Windermere – watch this space!

Treetop Nets:

Wow! I didn’t know what to expect prior to going on the Treetop Nets but I certainly didn’t expect such a fun filled two hours for the whole family. Having slightly smaller children we thought the Treetop Nets would be a good place to start their Treetop Trek experience, we were not wrong. For ages 3+ these super bouncy nets and ariel walkways were a huge hit with my children. You are able to enjoy the nets for two hours, which felt like a perfect amount of time – we were all shattered after 120 minutes of bouncing, sliding and climbing! Our youngest is only 2 years old so, being too young to bounce, she enjoyed time with her Grandma on the free adventure playground situated next door to the Treetop Nets. As a larger family, with differing ages, it is always really appreciated when we can all enjoy activities at the same time. You are able to see the Nets from the playground so we could all watch one another bounce, slide and having fun! Overall we had an incredibly fun morning, from sliding down the nets to jumping from the trees onto the airbag – adults it is quite a workout! Next time I think my older children will be ready to enjoy the Mini Treetop Trek.

To learn more, and pre book your tickets, please visit the Treetop Trek Lake District website here.

A huge thank you to Brockhole on Windermere and Treetop Trek Lake District for gifting The Hiking Household this fantastic family day out – there is so much to still explore, we will certainly be back!
