Wray Castle

This Gothic Revival castle with turrets, towers and informal grounds sits on the shores of Lake Windermere. There is a limited pay & display car park, nearest postcode LA22 0JA. Prior to Covid you were able to explore the upstairs of the castle which had many wonderful experiences for young children. Unfortunately these are closed at present but do keep checking their website for when they restart. They use to have a lovely interactive Peter Rabbit room.

You are also able to access Wray Castle from Windermere Lake Cruise Boats, however these are also currently unavailable due to Covid.

There are SO many wonderful walks that you can take leading from Wray Castle – the route that we took on this day was a pram accessible walk down to the jetty where we had a picnic and saw the bluebells. There is also a fantastic play area for children to build dens and enjoy being outdoors!

Overall, a lovely little day out for children of all ages. There are toilets and cafe on site too.
