We love this day out for the incredible facilities and woodland paths on offer. With a cafe, bike trails, woodland walks and outdoor adventure playgrounds there is something for all ages to enjoy here. For more details please head to the bottom of this page and view our Strava map.

The Route:

On this occasion we enjoyed the 2.5 mile River Walk, followed by a play on the outdoor adventure playground. There is so much to do here that you could enjoy something different each time you visit. We are particularly excited to try the traffic-free Dragon cycle trail, next time we visit.

The River Walk trail that we followed is off road pram accessible although it can get muddy in places. Please note, there are stepping stones to cross during this walk. We were able to carry our pram across the water however, there is a clearly marked, alternative, path on the map. As you enter the National Trust site map’s are provided, free of charge, here everything is clearly marked.

We had a truly incredible day out. The highlight was certainly the delicious cafe, leaf picking (I would highly recommend visiting in autumn) and of course the outdoor adventure fort and train! We all look forward to exploring the walled garden and house next time we visit.
