Quarry Beck walk went down very well with my children! The route we took was 1.5 miles and is not pram accessible, the terrain is very wet and boggy! However, this did make the Beck wonderful to see and the mini waterfalls were great! There is roadside parking at Lanercost Old Bridge just close to the Priory but please be aware that you do need to cross a road before reaching the wood. Quarry Beck can be found very close to Lanercost Priory, approximately 12 miles East of the City of Carlisle. Postcode: CA8 2HG.

Many people have told me that actually starting at the other end of the Beck would make for a better and slightly longer walk which we will try next time. The route that we take is more an explore for the children – they love to see the waterfalls and there is the added excitement of the active quarry where we were lucky enough to be able to watch the cutting of sandstone!

A fab short walk that is very well sheltered from any wind and rain. This is great to entertain the children during lockdown as there are plenty of trees to climb and things to see!
