Hammonds Pond is a park situated in Upperby, to the South of the City of Carlisle.Β

There are two free car parks – one off Blackwell Road and one off Buchanan Road and the paths are all pram accessible (and scooter/bike accessible!) The circular route around Hammonds Pond is approximately 0.7 miles and it is nice and flat. The facilities here are fantastic, there is a play area for both younger and slightly older children, a cafe, toilets and a miniature railway (please check carlisle council website for up to date times and availability).

In 2021 this park had a much needed refurbishment, at the time of writing (April 2022) some paths are still being resurfaced. The new play area is an ideal place for infants, juniors and mid teens. Situated next to the cafe there is something for Β all. The infants play area is fully fenced and offers a safe rubber flooring. Hammonds pond offers a lovely circular route around the pond, the well surfaced paths allow easy access for bikes, scooters and prams. With plenty of ducks, swans and lots of birds to look out for there is an abundance of entertainment for the whole family!Β

I would highly recommend this walk if you need the children to stretch their legs and burn off some energy for an hour. It is easy, free and has plenty of facilities!
