Why we love this park….

Hammonds Pond is a park situated in Upperby, to the South of the City of Carlisle, and is a fantastic green space for those with children of all different ages. The play area caters for all ages; a younger play area and an older area too. There are also multiple areas to play football, basketball and ride your bike – the bike track is always hugely popular. The paths are all pram accessible (and scooter/bike accessible!) and there is also a cafe, toilets and even a miniature railway! (Please check Cumberland council website for up to date times and availability).

In 2021 this park had a much needed refurbishment, the new play area is an ideal place for infants, juniors and mid teens. Situated next to the cafe there is something for all. The infants play area is fully fenced and offers a safe rubber flooring. Hammonds pond offers a lovely circular route around the pond, the well surfaced paths allow easy access for bikes, scooters and prams. With plenty of ducks, swans and lots of birds to look out for there is an abundance of entertainment for the whole family!

I would highly recommend this walk if you need the children to stretch their legs and burn off some energy for an hour. It is easy, free and has plenty of facilities!
