Brougham Castle
Brougham Castle is found in a beautiful setting beside the crossing of the River Eamont in Cumbria. It is about 20 miles South of Carlisle and only 2 miles outside of Penrith, postcode CA10 2AA. There is plenty of off road parking.
Brougham Castle is in the care of the English heritage and there is a small visiting charge, due to the new rules and regulations you must pre book online (www.english-heritage.org.uk). There is also a small shop and a little exhibition.
Overall my children had a wonderful morning exploring this castle and learning about it’s history and we shall certainly be back again! We find places like this are great to visit when the weather is wet and miserable as there are always plenty of hiding places for the rain inside the ruins!
