Tindale Tarn

Tindale Tarn is a lovely little find. We parked at Tindale, nearest postcode CA8 2QG, there is a signpost to Tindale Tarn from here.

There are a few routes that you are able to take, none of which I would say are pram accessible however I haven’t tested them all out…yet. Due to the very frosty weather and hard ground we were able to cross over from the top path to the path that runs alongside the old mines and quarry. This wouldn’t be possible if the ground wasn’t as hard due to how boggy the ground gets! We also had to cross the Beck doing this…. which provided great amusement!

You are able to walk around this tarn, something I hope to be able to do soon with my eldest.

While at Tindale Tarn we explored inside the old quarry for a long while! The children were gobsmacked, we found some great icicles and the echo while shouting was fab.

I cannot wait to return and test out another route, I would personally start at the car park and take the path that leads you to the tarn on your right hand side (not the route that we took). The path is much better on this side and you pass the disused mines and quarry.
